What is interesting about the Revenant is that, it's kind of different apart from the other heavy classes, i.e. Warrior and Guardian. Like many said, it is a bit challenging driving the Revenant at first, but once you get the hang of it, I believe it is more fun playing Revenant.

Guardian is one of the best "jack of all trades" because it has dumb amounts of utility, and has strong power, condi, and heal builds. The reason why I say "especially if you level 80 boost" is because you get celestial gear with your boost. Celestial firebrand is incredibly strong in open world and solo situations.

Hammer Revs (and especially vindicator with Spear of Archemorus and the AoE blast) are good for chokes like hallways and stuff. On the same note Longbow berserker is a fun mini dragon banner. DH and Guard is good when the enemy pushes on you and you drop all your stuff and leave. Consistently I'd give it to Scourge, with or without staff.
Honestly just choose which ever one you feel. Guild Wars 2 does a great job of making sure that each class can complete content solo with ease. However, there are some classes that are harder to learn than others, such as mesmer, elementalist, or engineer as there are a lot of different skills to learn and use. But you choose what feels right
Ranger - valkyrie core is ofc a thing but there are atleast 2 good tier builds - trapper core and power longbow core. Thief condi core and SD are both viable builds. Mesmer he has atleast 2 viable pvp builds for core. Warrior- core axe is pretty ok and rather simple to play.
