This harness is specifically engineered for a BMW E36 (92-99) with the GM LS1 Cable Throttle engine swap. It was developed in house on an actual LS1 engine in an E36 chassis to ensure a perfect fit to all engine connections. Wiring Specialties offers a number of options for common performance upgrades for this product. The rods pistons and crank from an m54b30 bolt into the block of an m50 which increases the stroke making it a 3.0l. Sounds like your starting with a 4 banger though so this option isn’t the best. An m52 swap would be simple because you could make it happen with all factory e36 parts.

Chassis codes can be googled searched. 92-99 3 series are E36s with the exception of the sedan in 99 and the coupe in 92 I think was an E30 still. I dunno about the PS pump being compatible, probably but to be sure you can search
If you really want to check that bucket list item off your list, combine the engine rebuild with an engine swap, say, into an E36 318ti or an E30.
